Ensure the file is a valid Blackmagic RAW file recorded by a supported Blackmagic camera. Files from other manufacturers, partially transferred files, or corrupted media cannot be opened. Try opening the same file in DaVinci Resolve to verify it's intact.

Disconnect and reconnect the USB-C cable firmly. Make sure the drive is formatted as exFAT or APFS — FAT32 cannot handle files larger than 4GB. Try a different USB-C cable if the issue persists. Some USB hubs may not provide sufficient power; connect the SSD directly to your device.

Go to Settings and reduce the Decode Quality. On older devices (iPhone 15 base model, iPad Air), quarter-resolution decode provides significantly smoother playback. Also close background apps to free up memory. For 12K BRAW files, half-resolution is recommended even on the latest hardware.

Make sure you're signed in with the same Apple ID used for the original purchase. Go to Settings inside the app and tap Restore Purchases. If using Family Sharing, subscriptions are not shared — each family member needs their own subscription.

Open a clip, make your RAW adjustments if desired, then navigate to the Export tab. Choose your format — ProRes 422 for maximum quality, HEVC for smaller files, or BRAW Trim to preserve the original RAW data with new in/out points. Tap Export. A Pro subscription is required for export functionality.
